Factors affecting competitve blockers.
Competitive blockers, are a type of skeletal muscle relaxants which compete with Acetyl choline at the Neuromuscular junction.
Ex. Pancuronium,Vecuronium.
Their interactions are as follows,
Their action is Potentiated by :
General anesthetics especially Isoflurane .
Hypocalcemia, Calcium Channel Blockers (verapamil).
Hypermagnesemia.
Diuretics (by causing hypokalemia).
Drugs like- Diazepam
Propranolol
Quinidine
Aminoglycosides
Tetracyclines
Clindamycin
Lincomycin
Anticholinesterase reverse the action and High dose of glucocorticoids reduces the effect of competitive blockers.
